Metadata for records management

ISO 23081-1, "Records management processes - Metadata for records – Part 1," covers the principles that govern records management metadata. It establishes the importance of records management metadata in business processes and identifies the different roles and types of metadata that support business and records management processes, and provides a framework for managing metadata. Two additional parts cover implementation and evaluation.

Business value:
This standard supports business by enabling records to be used in any application or information system. Note that the standard addresses records management metadata from a general perspective, and not metadata specific to the language industry. Nevertheless the general principles apply irregardless of the business industry.
